at the Thames Foyer, Kinga brings international flair and timeless class and kindness to London’s Epicenter for Afternoon Tea

Since it’s inception in 1840, afternoon tea in the Thames Foyer has been a dream for many a Clever Chica. My husband promised me one such tea for about a decade, and in the summer of 2018, on a sleepy September afternoon, he delivered. First, let me say that I was able to wear a favorite dress, purchased at an unbelievably reasonable price at the best shop in De Haan, Belgium—Outlet “Si,” so thank you, Natalie and Bamboo!

The Savoy’s legendary tea service is all that you’d expect and more. Food allergies and special dietary needs are not an issue; the entire staff greets you and welcomes you and makes sure that your sandwiches and pastries and, of course, your chosen tea, are plentiful and divine.

So to stand out in such perfection—such opulence—takes a special spirit—the kind of spirit that radiates from Kinga, our featured Clever Chica. Bright, curious, and professional, Kinga answered all of our many questions about legends and gossip on the Savoy experience. Her service was flawless—unnoticed in it’s perfection. To use a colloquial phrase, she’s next level. And all the while she was making this most special of days so effortless, she was getting to know us on a personal level that I shall never forget.

A traveler herself with a sincere appreciation for humanity not seen enough in this world, frankly, Kinga is the best of what a Clever Chica can be. She is driven by what she can give to her world, and she is curious about all walks of life and all experiences. Her class radiates far beyond the spectre of the high-dollar Savoy reputation. One can only imagine where her gift of compassion might lead her in the years to come.

As she reminded me in her parting, hand-written note as we left a once-in-a-lifetime day:

“When you are travelling, you are what you are right there and then.”

-William Least Heat-Moon

Until we meet on another Blue Highway, Kenga, keep being what you are—a Clever Chica who goes truly hoping to find adventure!

Thank you, Kinga, for being with us—right there.
